Uncover the Magic of Ayutthaya โ€“ A Journey Through Time

ย Tour Highlights

Wat Yai Chaimongkol ๐Ÿ›–โœจ

Built in 1357 by King U-Thong, Wat Yai Chaimongkol served as a meditation site for monks returning from Sri Lanka. The giant chedi, built after King Naresuanโ€™s great victory, still stands proud today.

Fun Fact:
๐ŸŽ–๏ธ The name "Yai" means "big" โ€” because this temple was built to house big victories and even bigger dreams!

Wat Lokayasutharamย

Home to the majestic 37-meter-long Reclining Buddha, Wat Lokayasutharam offers a calming and sacred atmosphere amidst Ayutthayaโ€™s ruins.

Fun Fact:
๐ŸŒธ Many locals come to worship the Reclining Buddha for blessings of peace and success before starting a new chapter in life.

Wat Phra Sri Sanphetย

The grandest temple of Ayutthaya, once reserved exclusively for royal ceremonies. Built in the 15th century, it held the ashes of three Ayutthaya kings.

Fun Fact:
๐Ÿ”” No monks ever lived here โ€” it was a royal temple, unlike most others!

Wat Mahathatย

Founded in the 14th century, Wat Mahathat was Ayutthayaโ€™s religious heart and housed important Buddhist relics. Today, itโ€™s famous worldwide for the Buddha head entwined within tree roots.

Fun Fact:
๐Ÿ“ท Itโ€™s one of the most photographed spots in Thailand โ€” a must-see for every visitor!

Wat Chaiwatthanaramย

Built in 1630 by King Prasat Thong, Wat Chaiwatthanaram reflects Khmer-style architecture and was inspired by the famous Angkor Wat.

Fun Fact:
๐ŸŒ… At sunset, the temple turns golden โ€” making it one of the most romantic spots in Ayutthaya!

๐Ÿ‘— General Dress Code Guidelines for Ayutthaya Temples

  • Shoulders and Knees Covered: Both men and women should ensure their shoulders and knees are covered. This means avoiding sleeveless tops, shorts, or skirts above the knee.

  • Avoid Tight or See-Through Clothing: Clothing should not be tight-fitting or transparent. Leggings, for instance, are generally not acceptable unless worn under a longer garment.

  • Footwear: While sandals are acceptable, it's customary to remove shoes before entering temple buildings. Therefore, wearing easily removable footwear is practical.

  • Scarves as Shoulder Covers: Using a scarf to cover bare shoulders is not always accepted, especially in more strict temples. It's better to wear tops with sleeves.ย
